New Year New Sport - an introduction
'New Year New Sport' is the Tchoukball Association of Great Britain's (TAGB) latest campaign to bring our exciting and unique sport to schools and clubs in Britain. You don't need to have experienced Tchoukball before. If you are keen on introducing children to new sporting opportunities, then we are the people you need to speak to.
Tchoukball is a fast and athletic handball sport which has been played in Britain for over 40 years. It is played in 44 countries around the world including Taiwan, Canada and Brazil.
Tchoukball is a non-contact team sport played by teams of 7 or 9 indoors, outdoors or on the beach. Players compete by rebounding the ball across a tightly-sprung trampette whilst defending players try to catch the ball before it touches the floor. And what makes our game so unique is that it is the only sport in the world in which both teams score at EITHER end. Interested? Then have a look at our free video or a selection of beach tchoukball videos to see Tchoukball in action.
Tchoukball is great for school children to learn because it is non-contact, athletic and sporty and importantly, new to everyone so you can all learn together.
This is why the Tchoukball Association of Great Britain is teaming up with partners to bring you New Year New Sport. This year, the campaign is starting in 3 areas: Norfolk, Suffolk and Hampshire. All secondary schools and youth clubs in these areas are invited to take part in our campaign.
Participants can expect:
- Free training (delivered locally) in how to play Tchoukball and how to teach it to children
- Coaching packs and information
- Organised competitions for new school Tchoukball teams
Schools, youth clubs and other organisations outside of the 3 project areas are not excluded. All the information provided through New Year New Sport will be available on this website and we welcome anyone to get in touch.
